Aloha, E Komo Mai. Aloha, and welcome to Manna, your place to all things healing.
It was the magnificent island that introduced Maiara to what is now Manna, a journey of self-healing.
Manna is the compilation of all her years of studying Yoga, Ayurveda, and living close to nature in Hawaii. Manna was born after years of contemplation on how to truly guide other spiritual aspirants on their healing journey.
Manna is a play on the word Mana, from the native Hawaiian language(meaning, nature, magical power, spiritual life-force); also correlating to the word Shakti in Sanskrit (power); and mana (sister, in colloquial Portuguese).
After many years of teaching yoga classes at different studios, Maiara noticed her students wanting more. More knowledge, more depth in their practices, more individualized support, and more healing.
Manna is your support system for your healing journey. Whether you choose to practice yoga asana to create a daily habit, or choose to understand your constitution through the knowledge of Ayurveda, or even choose to come to Hawaii to reset and retreat, Manna is here to support you along your path.
You’re unique, and so is your journey through life. Manna is here to optimize your creative potential, creating the shifts you so deeply crave to start living your best life.
Maiara, from the native language Tupi-Guarani tribe in the Amazon, means the wise one.
She is originally from Caxias do Sul in southern Brazil, a town known for its industrial power, and not so much for its yogic wisdom
In 2010 (a day before her 21st birthday) she moved to Oahu, Hawaii, for a yearlong study abroad program, but the universe had other plans. The beauty, together with its simple lifestyle made her fall in love with the islands, and here she is today, living on the North Shore of Oahu with her husband, daughter, and puppy.
It was in 2012 that she got introduced to yoga. Due to excruciating back pain, a friend took her to a hot yoga class, right after class she felt invigorated and couldn’t wait to go back.
A few years later, she decided to do her first 200-hour yoga teacher training, where she fell in love with the calmness yoga embraces as an overall lifestyle. All while completing her bachelor’s degree from UH Manoa in Business Administration.
Loving to live and teach yoga, she deepened her knowledge and completed a 500-hour yoga teacher training with Rupali Embry of Shanti Girl Yoga.
Yoga led her into the vast world of Ayurveda (Ayu=life; Veda=knowledge), the “sister science.” In 2019 Maiara started her journey studying ayurveda.
Continuing her education, she studied Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep/meditation) with Mary Bastien, and Bhakti Yoga Chanting with Janet Stone.
In the midst of figuring out life, she has had many jobs, but it is being a Yoga and Ayurvedic educator that has her heart, and she is here to help you.
She hopes you find inspiration in her story and find an offering that speaks to you.
Namaste & Aloha,
Manna & Maiara
